Dr. Alison Burrows was born and raised in New York City and moved to Dubai in 2009. She is a senior lecturer in the Department of Education and Early Childhood Studies at Middlesex University Dubai where she wrote the Masters of Education Technology Integration Program. Alison received her doctorate from Johns Hopkins University where she was also a research fellow and a two-time merit scholar. Her research focuses on helping teachers navigate the use of digital tools to provide meaningful learning with technology and parents’ perceptions of childhood technology use for leisure and at school. In addition to her work at Middlesex University, Alison is a certified parent educator and screentime consultant. She advises parents and schools about the research on growing up digitally and strategies to ensure meaningful interactions with technology throughout childhood. Dr. Alison is a recurring guest on Dubai Eye, is frequently contacted by various media channels for her expertise, and is a frequent keynote speaker. Recently she has been featured at COP 28 Dubai, Expo 2020, The Baby Expo, The ScreenWise Summit, and The CrunchMoms Summit.
