Dubai: A new science park dedicated to research and development is set to be built in Ajman costing Dh170 million.

His Highness Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman and Chairman, Board of Trustees of Ajman University of Science and Technology (AUST), has approved the AUST Science Park Project to enhance the role of higher education in equipping future generations.

The Science Park, which can accommodate 5,000 students, will herald a new era of research and education offered by Ajman University as a leading role model in the service of higher education in the emirate.

This move came during a meeting at the Ruler’s Court with Shaikh Humaid, in the presence of Shaikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Head of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department. Osama Saeed Salman, Vice-President of AUST, briefed them on the project plans, which will serve the academic and scientific progression of higher education in Ajman.

The park will house buildings with contemporary design and have various disciplines for local and expatriate students alike.

“This project is a translation of the vision that set up Ajman University in 1988. This vision has made the university a pioneer in the private higher education sector locally and regionally,” Salman said.

“For the past 26 years, AUST has been graduating the human capital of the nation and this project provides the quantum leap in supporting the development of our beloved nation through research, training and scientific excellence.”
