‘India emerging as destination for higher education’
DUBAI: The Government of India’s Ministry of Human Resource Development will soon launch a portal called ‘Study in India’ to enable students from the UAE and other overseas destinations to apply and select various courses offered by 100 prestigious institutions in India.
Diptiman Das, CMD of EdCIL India Ltd., the only Central Public sector undertaking under the Government of India’s Ministry of HRD, said that the ‘Study in India’ campaign would also engage with foreign students through a larger social media branding and facilitation.
The portal will be a one stop solution for overseas students who wish to study in India.
Das was speaking at the ‘Study in India’ pavilion at the Gulf Education & Training Exhibition (GETEX) in Dubai. The pavilion was inaugurated by Consul General of India in Dubai Vipul.
Several reputed higher education Indian institutions including Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee, IIT Ropar, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Rathinam Group of Institutes and SRKR Engineering College are showcasing their educational courses at the ‘Study in India’ pavilion at the event.
‘Study in India’ is the latest initiative of Govt. of India to partner with 100 odd high-quality Indian institutions (high on NIRF Rank and NAAC Accreditation Scores) to make India a preferred destination for overseas students.
According to India’s Minister for Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar, the Study in India Programme will be launched on April 18. The programme aims to increase the inflow of foreign students in Indian universities and to transform India into an education hub.
In the first phase of the initiative, the ministry will be introducing the programme in 30 countries which can later be expanded to 60 more.
