In today’s schools, sustainability education often stops at surface-level activities like recycling projects and trashion shows. But to truly equip students for the future, we must dive deeper. This talk will explore the concept of planetary boundaries—critical limits within which humanity can safely operate—and demonstrate how schools can incorporate this into their sustainability teaching. Moving beyond the basics, we’ll discuss how to engage students in understanding Earth’s finite resources and empower them to become active problem-solvers for global challenges like climate change. Using examples from Expo City Dubai and real-world applications, this session will provide educators with practical strategies for embedding planetary boundaries into curricula, helping schools create a lasting impact on student learning and planetary stewardship.
